Job Description
Summary: The California Highway Patrol is a law enforcement organization dedicated to providing safety and security. They are seeking an Office Assistant (Typing) to process Public Records Act requests and manage documentation in compliance with departmental policies.
Responsibilities:
- Process all incoming Public Records Act (PRA) requests, Subpoena Duces Tecum, and Informal Discovery Requests in accordance with applicable laws, departmental policies, and established procedures
- Log appropriate requests into the CHP 520 Area Public Records Act Request Log and assign a tracking number to ensure accurate record keeping and timely processing
- Route Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) Log and 911 audio requests to the Fresno Communications Center for processing
- Log dispatch-related PRA requests on the CHP 520, calculate and collect applicable fees, and ensure proper documentation
- Prepare CHP 247, Production of Records – Subpoena Duces Tecum, collect required fees, and process records for mailing
- Route arrest report requests to the Arrest Desk Clerk for processing
Required Qualifications:
- The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications
- You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired
- The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired
- Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s)

- A working knowledge of Word and Excel computer programs
- Interact with fellow employees and the public in a pleasant manner
