Neural Electrode or Interface Fabrication and Characterization Engineer at Cahira Technologies

Location: Boston, MA · Visa sponsorship: no

About the company

Cahira Technologies Inc is an MIT spinoff company (https://www.linkedin.com/company/cahiratech/). We have built the the world’s first autonomous and non-surgical brain implant: novel sub-cellular sized wireless electronic devices that seamlessly integrate with the neurons or other biological cells, enabling brain-computer symbiosis beyond conventional brain-computer interfaces.

Already validated in our animal studies, this breakthrough has been honored with several esteemed awards such as the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award with the highest and rarely achieved impact score, the MIND Prize, and featured by BBC, Forbes, CNN, Bloomberg, MIT News etc. It is poised for clinical translation for treating intractable neural diseases as well as for transcending humans beyond biological limitations.

Join us in our exciting journey to define the future of neurotechnology and human augmentation!

About the role

We're hiring an engineer with strong background in designing, nano-fabricating and characterizing electrode/interface for neural electrical stimulation. Expertise in micro/nano-fabrication and characterization of neural electrode/interface is a MUST.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

• Design and develop devices for neural stimulation

• Perform simulations to optimize the device

• Perform micro- and nano- fabrication to make the devices using cleanroom facilities and perform device characterization

• Explore applications of these devices for biomedical implants

Qualifications and Skills:

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors or M.S or PhD in electrical/electronic engineering, physics, materials science, bio/mechanical/chemical engineering or relevant field

• Micro-nano fabrication of electrodes or other neural interfaces

• Characterization of the interface properties through tests such as Cyclic voltammetry, Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and voltage transient measurements etc

• Failure, degradation and aging tests

• Softwares such as MATLAB

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• In vitro assessment of the neural interface through recording and stimulation

• In vivo assessment of the neural interface through recording and stimulation

• Electrophysiology data analysis

• Electrical modeling of neurons, hodgkin huxley models etc
