Job Description
Assistant Retail Manager - Full-time (Caesars Palace LV)
Location: Las Vegas, NV, United States
Reports to and assists Retail Senior Manager / Retail Manager. Responsible for the successful overall management of the retail outlet or outlets assigned by the Retail Department Head. Responsible for driving sales in these locations and managing the daily operations in accordance with company policies, procedures and department specifications. Leads associates in focusing on merchandising, selling techniques and guest service.
Manages the daily operations of the assigned retail stores on property
Driving sales:
· Closely monitors sales by store and department against plan and previous year
· Addresses ‘out of stocks’ with product developers
· Monitors stock reports and addresses discrepancies in a timely manner
· Recommends additions and changes to increase sales based on feedback at property level
· Reviews fast seller reports and ensures visibility of bestselling merchandise
· Fully conversant in the ‘point of sale’ operation as it pertains to the registers and flow of merchandise
· Insure engagement and up selling techniques are utilized to drive sales
Merchandising:
· Maintains merchandising standards in the stores
· Works with employees on visual standards and trains team to create effective displays
· Responsible for ensuring that the planograms are accurately executed and communicates changes and/or errors to the Retail Department Head and the relevant buyers
Guest Service:
· Maintains high level of visibility on the sales floor
· Responds to special requests of guests, as well as guest complaints and inquiries
· Works on the floor with the employees to ensure guest service is achieved and maintained
· Compiles staffing schedules to optimize service offered to the guest
· Provides guest service- related assistance, such as helping guests with purchases
· Assists employees with refunds, voids and transaction errors
Training and development:
· Organizes employee meetings to discuss daily operations
· Participates in training new hires
· Assists Retail Department Head with specialized ongoing training
· Coaches supervisors on the basic aspects of the retail operation
· Completes formal probationary and annual reviews on employees
· Completes informal reviews with employees on a regular basis
· Responsible for disciplinary action and counseling of retail employees
· Observes employee performance and encourages improvement by leading by example
· Develops retail team, individually and as a group, by setting obtainable goals
Communication:
· Communicates verbally and in writing within the retail division and in other departments at the property level.
· Attends weekly managers’ meetings. Ensures follow up on issues addressed.
· Facilitates the flow of information from the retail department leaders to the employees
· Ensures memos are posted, and employees are informed of all procedural changes
· Gives clear direction and guidance, both verbally and in writing, to subordinates
· Maintains a working knowledge of current and upcoming events on property, in order to advise guests and retail employees
Staff retention:
· Uses ‘best practices’ in the hiring of new associates.
· Retains staff through involvement in associate training and development
· Ensures employees are kept informed of upcoming events and procedural changes by scheduling them to attend Departmental and hotel meetings
· Instills an atmosphere that encourages associates to share ideas, discuss concerns and resolve conflicts
· Encourages employees to seek career advancement by advocating promotions from within
Operations
· Ensures compliance with applicable company policies and procedures, by enforcing same within the department
· Responsible for monitoring cash variances, exception reports, and all merchandise logs
· Coordinates stock counts as requested by ESS Retail
· Responsible for the accuracy and thoroughness of assigned stores’ records and reports
· Responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date attendance records
· Schedules staff to ensure proper coverage is maintained and payroll costs in line with budget
· Maintains the integrity of the inventory and adopts procedures to minimize shrink
· Participates on ESS Operations Calls
· Assist with payroll and other applications as necessary
INCIDENTAL/ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
· Assists in coordinating annual inventories and completing the reconciliation process
· Participates in employee sales
· Attends leadership training classes
· Completes basic excel reports for the Retail Department
EDUCATION and/ or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree preferable, and one to four years related management experience, depending on volume and number of locations. Previous retail experience required.
BASIC COMPETENCIES
Ability to organize and prioritize work, work with minimal supervision, and multiple interruptions. Must always exercise good judgment and possess excellent communication skills.
