Job Description
Systems Administrator
Location: HMAS Watson
The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of ICT systems. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of networked systems and servers within a mission-critical environment. The position requires strong technical expertise, adherence to cybersecurity protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues while supporting training systems and operational readiness.

User and access management
Maintenance & updates
Manage documentation & training of new team members
Accountable for system monitoring and analysis
Responsible for infrastructure management
Minimum Qualifications
Technical Expertise in managing and maintaining Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
Proficiency in cybersecurity principles and Defence ICT security compliance.
Experience with patch management and system hardening processes.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology (IT)
Ability to work on-site, 5 days a week at HMAS Watson
Already hold and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance – must be an AU Citizen!
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.
