Job Description
Summary: Cactus Petes Resort Casino, part of PENN Entertainment, is seeking an HR Specialist to support their benefits administration and organizational development initiatives. The role includes executing day-to-day benefits functions, assisting with new hire paperwork, and facilitating communication within the property.
Responsibilities:
- Executes the day-to-day benefits administrative function with primary focus on ACA compliance, benefits related activities, and support/resolution of team member and property HR group’s benefits and system related matters
- Assists with the coordination of annual open enrollment and wellness events at the property
- Assists team members with enrollment and navigating the Alight website
- Streamlines training and organizational development activities aligned with the property’s training initiatives
- Creates and prints training materials including manuals, handouts and audio/visual training aids
- Promotes and supports all Organizational Development activities and programs
- Facilitates communication and information exchange that supports property initiatives by hanging posters and rotating them out when messaging has expired, posting messages on ITV, Penn Connect, Teams, and email
- Create brochures, flyers, posters, training presentation materials and manuals, etc. to promote corporate initiatives. Write, edit and design announcements
- Assists in the maintenance of the HRIS as assigned
- Enters data and ensures integrity in the data collected and recorded for separations, personnel transactions, and HRIS/Payroll alignment
- Assists with paycheck distribution and tracking of checks mailed or distributed in HR
- Maintains I9 information, ensuring that employees are following work authorization rules and regulations
- Assists with new hire paperwork and proper processing of new hires
- Creates employee ID and nametag, creation of lunch accounts, and issue of uniforms
- Posts jobs and update status of candidates within the online applicant tracking systems (iCIMS)
- Source, screen and interview candidates to fill existing and future job openings through visits to college campuses, consultation with agencies, and contacts within the industry and larger community
- Communicates internal open positions and process with internal candidates
- Perform routine audits as requested
- Performs specialized or confidential administrative duties, including researching data and preparing reports as needed
- Responsible for inputting and maintaining employee records
- Ensuring behavior and appearance are following established standards
- Maintains a professional work environment with management and staff
- Participates in meetings and training as required
- Maintains complete confidentiality of all company information at all times
- Perform necessary follow-ups to meet established objectives and assist with reminders of commitments and deadlines
- Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards
- Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to management
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Advanced level skills in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
- Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate
- Ability to learn new systems quickly
- Experience in a professional office environment, preferably utilizing clerical skills
- Customer service experience
- Proficient in vocabulary, spelling, punctuation and proofreading
- Must be able to compose and prepare correspondence appropriate for the Human Resources Department
- Ability to operate office equipment including a photocopier, fax machine and calculator
- Excellent telephone manners and techniques
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Comfort with flexibility in priorities and work assignments a must
- Must approach team member questions and concerns in a caring, confidential and helpful manner
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a human resources office preferred
- Previous HRIS experience. Experience with Ultipro and iCIMS strongly preferred
