Summary: ByteDance is a technology company known for its innovative products like TikTok and CapCut. They are seeking software engineer interns to help build a cloud-native platform for managing the lifecycle and traffic of edge services on their globally distributed Points of Presence (PoPs). Responsibilities: - Collaborate with cross-functional team members to build enterprise-level platform (PaaS) that serves both internal and external teams - Develop and Enhance microservices using Cloud Native technologies like Kubernetes, gRPC, REST, Nginx/Envoy, Postgres, Containers, etc - Write the necessary unit test, integration test, and end-to-end test - Work in a fast-paced environment and be responsible end-to-end for the production environment Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's student in Computer Science, Computing Engineering, or related fields - Experience in programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, C/C++ - Experience with TCI/IP networking stack - Experience in using docker or other container technologies - Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment - Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026 Preferred Qualifications: - Solid understanding of edge computing concepts, content delivery networks (CDN), load balancing strategies, and distributed storage/compute architectures - Experience in Kubernetes-related Cloud Native development, such as Kubernetes API, Operator, Custom Resource Definition (CRD) development, or other related Open Source projects - Deep understanding of data structure design, networking, authentication and data security - Contributions to Kubernetes or other CNCF open-source projects (e.g., PRs, bug fixes, or new features in repositories with 1,000+ stars) - Experience with one or more databases and messaging frameworks, such as MySQL, Postgres, Redis, Kafka, etc Required Skills: Kubernetes, Go, Python, Cloud Native Important Skills: C/C++, Docker, TCP/IP, Postgres Nice-to-Have Skills: Java, Soft Skills Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer Benefits: Day one access to health insurance, Life insurance, Wellbeing benefits, 10 paid holidays per year, Paid sick time (56 hours if hired in first half of year, 40 if hired in second half of year), Housing allowance
