Job Description
Summary: Bridgeforce Data Solutions is a financial technology firm that provides automated credit reporting and disputes compliance solutions. They are seeking a Data Engineer to design and create enhancements to the data environment, focusing on data modeling, database development, and maintaining data routines that support analytics and products.
Responsibilities:
- Translate business and data requirements into technical designs (data models, schemas, validation rules, and processing specifications)
- Enhance data exception handling by implementing robust validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and alerting for data quality issues
- Improve data processing efficiency by tuning, optimizing tables and schemas, and reducing runtime and operational overhead
- Extend the data environment to support new data sources and data types, including ingestion, normalization, and backward-compatible schema evolution
- Create derivative datasets (e.g., benchmarking datasets) and implement de-identification approaches that remove or protect PII while preserving analytical value
- Document requirements and track progress against defined milestones
- Document and maintain processes, procedures, and user guides related to the analytics suite
- Support onboarding of new data sources and new client data feeds by defining mapping rules, validation checks, and go-live readiness criteria
- Support the data environment on behalf of clients and internal efforts
- Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 1-2 years of direct experience or the equivalent experience obtained through internships
- Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
- Highly organized with strong time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and with others
- A “can-do” attitude that finds ways to get things done with limited direction
- Talented at taking initiative and being self-motivated
- Capable of completing milestones and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Willingness to learn on the job and share experiences with other members of the team
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work in unstructured situations and bring order to undefined solutions
- SQL and Redshift development experience
- Experience with python and shell scripting
- Strong knowledge of Datawarehouse/dimensional model concepts
- Actively embraces AI-enabled coding assistants as part of daily development work (e.g., Kiro, Claude Code, or similar)
- Effective interpersonal and clear communication skills when meeting with clients
- Excellent written English skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiar with ETL (using at least one like Ab initio/Informatica/Data Stage or similar) tool
- Experience in financial services, especially consumer lending
- Experience writing procedures and technical documentation
- Familiar with AWS environments
- Previous work experience with dynamic, start-up software teams
