Job Description
Business Development Manager
Location: Brisbane Office - Newstead Village
About the role
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to join our Proprietary & Partnerships team, focused on growing strong, sustainable lending opportunities across the non-broker referral direct channel.
In this role, you’ll be out in market building meaningful relationships and uncovering new opportunities, whether that’s through branch engagement, direct customer networks, industry associations, or strategic partnerships. You’ll play a key role in expanding BOQ’s presence across commercial, agri, health and investor segments, while ensuring customer outcomes remain front of mind.
Working closely with Relationship Managers, Credit and our broader banking teams, you’ll take ownership of identifying, qualifying and shaping opportunities before handing them over for execution. You’ll also be instrumental in strengthening our brand in the market, representing BOQ at events, engaging with referral partners, and building a strong, trusted network.
Success in this role comes from your ability to connect the dots, balancing commercial outcomes with strong stakeholder management, and continuously identifying ways to grow and enhance our third-party distribution channel.
About you
You’re a natural relationship builder who thrives in a client-facing, growth-focused role. You enjoy being out in the market, building networks and creating opportunities, and you bring the commercial acumen to back it up.
You’ve likely spent a few years in business banking and understand how to structure and assess lending opportunities across commercial and asset finance. You’re confident navigating conversations with a range of stakeholders and know how to position solutions that deliver value for both the customer and the Bank.
You bring a proactive mindset and are comfortable working autonomously, while still collaborating closely with internal teams to deliver outcomes. You communicate with confidence, whether that’s one-on-one or presenting to larger groups, and you’re motivated by achieving results while delivering great customer experience.
If you’re someone who’s curious, relationship-driven and excited by the idea of growing a channel and making a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
