Job Description
Summary: Boom Supersonic is dedicated to revolutionizing supersonic flight with their Symphony supersonic engine. The Mechanical Engineer will create detailed manufacturing drawings, translate CAD models into documentation, and support the build and testing of engine hardware.
Responsibilities:
- Create detailed manufacturing drawings for SN0 engine hardware, ensuring clarity, completeness, and producibility
- Translate 3D CAD models into production-ready documentation with GD&T, tolerances, and inspection requirements
- Partner closely with manufacturing engineers and machinists to resolve drawing questions and drive first-pass success
- Support the hands-on build of Sprint Core—participating in assembly, troubleshooting, and real-time problem solving
- Incorporate redlines and build feedback into updated designs and released documentation
- Assist in developing test hardware, fixtures, and structural elements for engine testing
- Build strong fundamentals in engine subsystems (fuel, oil, structures, accessories) through direct exposure to design and test
- Progress into ownership of components and subsystems—taking hardware from concept through design, analysis, build, and test
- Communicate clearly across design, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure alignment and execution
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Strong command of mechanical fundamentals: statics, dynamics, fluids, thermals, and material
- Proficiency in CAD for part modeling, assemblies, and drawing creation
- Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups (or a strong desire to master them quickly)
- Experience through internships, co-ops, or projects that involved building or testing real hardware
- Comfort spending time in a machine shop, assembly bay, or test environment—not just behind a screen
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing clean, accurate documentation
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ambition, complemented by effective collaboration skills in a team setting
- Excels in a high-energy, independent, and challenging work environment
- To conform to U.S. Government aerospace technology export regulations (ITAR and EAR), applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State

- You've supported a prototype build or seen hardware go from CAD to test
- You've worked closely with machinists or fabricators and understand what makes a drawing 'shop-ready'
