Job Description
Summary: BMW Group is an automotive manufacturing company seeking a Non-Series Material Controller Intern to support its NSM/MRO team in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The intern will assist with spare parts purchasing, inventory visibility, SAP/MRP data review, supplier coordination, reporting, dashboard development, workflow improvements, and process documentation to improve material control and production readiness.
Responsibilities:
- Support spare parts purchasing coordination, including RFQ tracking, quote follow-up, purchase order status review, and supplier communication support
- Assist with inventory visibility, cycle count follow-up, discrepancy tracking, obsolescence review, and material master data quality checks
- Develop, update, and maintain Power BI dashboards and KPI reports to improve transparency of MRO activity, supplier performance, repair status, and open action items
- Support Power Apps or low-code workflow improvements that reduce manual tracking, improve data consistency, and strengthen process ownership
- Use approved AI development or productivity tools to support documentation, data cleanup, reporting enhancements, and process improvement ideas under team guidance
- Assist with SAP/MRP data review to help identify open purchase orders, reorder needs, missing information, duplicate records, or process exceptions
- Support standard work, process documentation, training materials, audit evidence, and shared-folder organization for NSM/MRO activities
- Participate in team meetings, supplier reviews, and cross-functional discussions by capturing action items, preparing summaries, and supporting follow-up activities
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications:
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
- Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at the time of application
- Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week)
- Transfer students must have a GPA from their current university
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred Degrees: BA/BS degree (Logistics related field preferred)
