Job Description
Summary: BMO Capital Markets is a leading financial services provider seeking two Equity Research Associates for their Softlines Retail team. The associates will collaborate with a senior analyst to develop equity research products, requiring strong analytical skills and a passion for the stock market.
Responsibilities:
- Building and maintaining detailed company models (IS/BS/CF)
- Analyzing financial statements, company filings (10-K, 10-Q, earnings releases), company transcripts, and news related to industry coverage
- Conducting store and channel checks
- Writing equity research reports and over time, formulating investment theses
- Participation in site visits and management meetings
- Maintaining and analyzing industry data
- Communicating investment recommendations to internal and external clients

- A keen interest in and demonstrated understanding of Equity Research

- Ability to systematically manage a heavy work load and meet stringent deadlines
- Flexibility to work irregular and extended hours
- Solid technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg and/or FactSet
- Demonstrated use of AI in the workplace
- Bachelor's degree is required
- A combination of writing skills, technical knowledge and skills in equity research, finance or accounting demonstrated through relevant work and educational experience is required
- Clear and proven track record of achievement throughout their education and career
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior industry knowledge
- Research licenses (SIE, Series 7, 63, 86, 87)
- Licenses or prior experience for the second associate is a plus
- Post-secondary degree in a related field of study
- CFA is a plus
