Job Description
Summary: BMO Capital Markets is a leading, full-service financial services provider. They are seeking two Equity Research Associates to join their Softlines Retail team, where the associates will work closely with the senior analyst to develop and market equity research products.
Responsibilities:
- Building and maintaining detailed company models (IS/BS/CF)
- Analyzing financial statements, company filings (10-K, 10-Q, earnings releases), company transcripts, and news related to industry coverage
- Conducting store and channel checks
- Writing equity research reports and over time, formulating investment theses
- Participation in site visits and management meetings
- Maintaining and analyzing industry data
- Communicating investment recommendations to internal and external clients
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Strong analytical / critical thinking skills
- Passion for the stock market
- Keen attention to detail
- Strong work ethic
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- A keen interest in and demonstrated understanding of Equity Research
- Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, ability to learn quickly
- Superior work ethic, self-motivation, ability to work independently
- Ability to systematically manage a heavy work load and meet stringent deadlines
- Flexibility to work irregular and extended hours
- Solid technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg and/or FactSet
- Demonstrated use of AI in the workplace
- A combination of writing skills, technical knowledge and skills in equity research, finance or accounting demonstrated through relevant work and educational experience
- Clear and proven track record of achievement throughout education and career
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of equity research experience
- Prior industry knowledge
- Requisite research licenses (SIE, Series 7, 63, 86, 87)
- Strong technical skills
- Licenses or prior experience for the second associate is a plus
- Post-secondary degree in a related field of study is a plus
- CFA is a plus
- Prior industry experience in the consumer industry is not required but could be a benefit

Important Skills: Bloomberg knowledge, FactSet knowledge
Nice-to-Have Skills: Intellectual curiosity, AI usage, CFA certification
