Job Description
Summary: Blueprint is a technology solutions firm headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, focused on leveraging technology to unlock value for organizations. The Software Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, securing, and operating large-scale data and platform services, ensuring system reliability and compliance while collaborating with experienced engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software components that support platform reliability, monitoring, diagnostics, and operational health
- Implement security‑focused improvements, including fixing code vulnerabilities, securing service endpoints, and rotating/updating identities and secrets
- Execute governance and compliance initiatives such as data partitioning, access controls, and physical or logical security restrictions
- Build, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and follow established engineering and deployment practices
- Develop and support data and processing pipelines across distributed and big data platforms, including large‑scale storage and compute systems
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and debug complex issues in development, pre‑production, and production environments
- Investigate production incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement durable, long‑term fixes
- Collaborate closely with full‑time engineers to accelerate ramp‑up and knowledge transfer
- Work primarily in a heads‑down execution model, completing high‑priority deliverables efficiently and with high quality
- Follow approved access and operational processes when working in secured environments
Required Qualifications:
- Professional software development experience in Rust, Java, C, or C++
- Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills, with a demonstrated focus on engineering quality and reliability
- Experience developing cross‑platform software for both Windows and Linux environments
- Hands‑on experience with modern engineering practices and tools, such as: Version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, Automated testing frameworks
- Ability to design, build, and operate secure, performant, and highly available systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building or maintaining Linux‑based components used for monitoring, diagnostics, or fleet/service health
- Familiarity with big data and distributed systems, such as large‑scale storage, data processing frameworks, or cloud‑based data platforms
- Knowledge of observability practices, including telemetry, logging, alerting, and safe rollout strategies
- Experience with secure service design, including secrets management, identity systems, and endpoint hardening
- Demonstrated contributions to engineering best practices such as code reviews, test automation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Exposure to compliance‑driven environments or systems with strong governance requirements
