Job Description
Summary: Blue Nile is a diamond bridal jewelry company with a technology soul, and they are seeking a Business Intelligence Intern. The intern will partner with Business Intelligence leaders to analyze data, develop dashboards, and communicate insights, while managing project deliverables and collaborating with stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Business Intelligence leaders to investigate strategic business questions
- Take ownership of one defined project aligned to current priorities, such as:
- Assortment optimization and uniqueness scoring methodologies
- Performance scorecards for showroom and sales advisors
- Dashboard certification, design standardization, and strategic enhancement
- Proactive alerting and documentation for critical pipelines and reports
- Use data to identify trends, surface insights, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations
- Design, build, or enhance dashboards and analytical views using Tableau (or similar tools), following established design and reporting standards
- Collaborate closely with mentors across Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Engineering, and business teams
- Communicate progress, challenges, and learnings throughout the internship
- Deliver a final capstone presentation summarizing your approach, insights, and recommendations to senior stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative or business-focused field such as Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Marketing, or a related field
- Experience with at least one of the following: SQL or relational databases, Data analysis in Excel, Google Sheets, Python, or R, Data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, Data science and statistics training
- Comfort learning new tools, frameworks, or business domains with support and guidance. This requires strong analytical and problem-solving skillsets
- Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate data into business insights
- Ability to work full-time, on-site in New York City, for the full 8-week internship period
