Bloomberg
Senior Software Engineer - Sell Side Data… at Bloomberg · Pune
Job Description
About the Team:
The Sell-Side Pre-Trade and Execution (SSPTE) group builds and supports Bloomberg’s global, multi-asset Sell-Side execution management systems (EMSes), including TOMS, ETOMS, and Broadway. These systems are relied upon daily by thousands of fixed income traders and salespeople at the world’s leading financial institutions. We focus on the trader workflows starting from advertising an intention to trade to executing transactions with clients and other dealers in the market. In these workflows, we’re often dealing in microsecond latencies and at high throughput.
Our SSPTE Data Acquisition team plays a critical role in the success of our business. We are responsible for acquiring and normalizing market data and reference data into a common schema feeding the core of our trading systems with the material that connects workflows.
This data provides the trading system with a complete, real-time view of tradeable securities, markets, trading history and market activity, enabling integration of trading strategies, pricing models, analytics, and custom workflows. Crucially, EMS applications rely on consuming such market and reference data seamlessly, so that they can efficiently execute advanced EMS workflows, which often require microsecond latency.
What’s in it for you:
The team, originally based in Hyderabad, joined Bloomberg through the Broadway acquisition. Having recently moved to Pune, their primary focus for the upcoming year will be to integrate with Bloomberg's industry-leading Market and Reference data technologies and tools, such as Enterprise Data License and BPIPE.
Joining the team offers a unique opportunity to make your mark on these high-profile projects early on. You will help the team in making sound technical decisions when faced with complex challenges. These include efficiently ingesting millions of rows of Reference Data within strict SLAs, and deploying new software releases that update critical Market Data information, while prioritizing correctness, stability, and reliability. This position will also provide invaluable insight into various Sell-Side EMS workflows, as the Market and Reference data managed by the team are central to numerous EMS applications.
We’ll trust you to:
Collaborate effectively with a team of talented individuals, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance
Lead complex projects involving Product and Engineering stakeholders in Pune / London / New York offices
Own the full software development life-cycle, from understanding the needs of the business through to coding to deployment and maintenance
Lead by example and mentor team members in navigating complex technical problems
Interact and build relationships with our Client Services and Professional Services teams
You'll need to have:
4+ years of experience in one or more general purpose object-oriented programming language (e.g. C++, Java, Python), but preferably C++
A robust knowledge of data structures and algorithms
Experience with concurrent programming
A strong sense of ownership and the ability to collaborate with multiple teams and partners to drive projects and initiatives
This position requires at least one of the following: a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education, and/or specialized training, and/or related professional experience
Familiarity with, or a strong curiosity about financial markets
good to have experience with Bloomberg Enterprise Data License and BPIPE products
Strong mentoring skills
