Job Description
Summary: Bloom Energy is at the forefront of the global energy transition, pioneering solutions for clean, reliable, and affordable energy. The Controls Engineering Intern will support the reliability and performance optimization of solid oxide fuel cell systems, focusing on control system sustainment and data-driven evaluation of system behavior.
Responsibilities:
- Support investigation and root cause analysis of control system faults, abnormal operating conditions, and alarm events
- Assist with sustainment of industrial control systems
- Analyze large time‑series data sets (alarms, events, operational signals) to identify trends, correlations, and failure precursors
- Evaluate alarm performance and support alarm rationalization efforts
- Apply statistical analysis and pattern recognition techniques to detect anomalies in system behavior
- Develop basic predictive or trend‑based models to anticipate performance degradation or control issues
- Create scripts or tools to automate data processing, visualization, and reporting
Required Qualifications:
- Currently a student earning a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering or a related Engineering discipline
- Must be graduating between spring 2026 and summer 2027
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of control systems fundamentals (sensors, actuators, PID, feedback loops)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex technical data
- Experience with data analysis or scripting (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
- Familiarity with time series analysis, statistics, or predictive modeling concepts
- Pursuing M.S. degree
