Binn Group
Credit Controller at Binn Group in Perth PH2 9PX
Job Description
Binn Group is Scotland's leading independent recycling and resource management company. From our Eco Park at Glenfarg in Perthshire, and from our site in Inverness, we handle waste and recover resources for customers across the country. We are a family-owned business that has grown substantially, and our Finance team has grown with it.
We are now looking for a second Credit Controller to join that team.
The role
Reporting to the Transactional Finance Manager and working alongside our existing Credit Controller as an equal team of two, you will take the lead on the sales ledger for our Inverness business and support the ledger at Glenfarg. That means:
- Chasing overdue invoices by telephone, email and letter, and collecting within agreed terms to support the Group's cash collection and debtor day targets
- Running the monthly direct debit collection cycle for advance and arrears customers, and allocating customer receipts accurately every day
- Credit checking and new account set-up, agreeing payment terms, and recommending account stops or recovery action where they are needed
- Working with the sales team to resolve disputed invoices and agree payment plans
- Aged debt and collection reporting for Inverness, feeding into consolidated Group debtor reporting
- Keeping a clear and complete record of collection activity in Credit Hound
There is a genuine improvement agenda attached to this role. We want someone who will help bring the Inverness ledger onto the same processes, systems and reporting as Glenfarg, and who will document them along the way, so that no part of the ledger depends on any one individual.
About you
- At least two years in credit control or accounts receivable, including direct contact with customers regarding overdue accounts
- Knowledge of the direct debit process would be an advantage
- Strong Excel; Sage 200 experience a real advantage, as is Credit Hound
- Comfortable holding a firm line on payment while protecting the customer relationship, and confident dealing with colleagues across an operational business
- Experience of running the ledger for more than one entity or trading company would be useful, but is not essential
No formal qualification is essential. A CICM (Chartered Institute of Credit Management) qualification, or study towards it, is desirable, and we are equally happy to hear from candidates who are qualified by experience.
What we offer
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Your main place of work will be our office at Binn Eco Park; we would encourage you to spend as much time as possible in the office, however hybrid working requests will be considered and agreed with the Head of Finance
- 28 days' annual holiday, inclusive of the four public holidays, rising with continuous service
- Royal London workplace pension, with our employer contribution increasing with length of service
- Life assurance of three times annual earnings after three months' service, including access to AIG's Smart Health Hub with unlimited GP access and a second opinion service
- Confidential Employee Assistance Programme, free to you, offering advice, support and counselling on personal and work-related matters
- Support for training and development, from informal skills training through to modern apprenticeships and degree programmes
- A permanent role in a finance team that is actively investing in better systems and better ways of working
- On-site parking at Binn Eco Park, in a rural setting between Perth and Kinross
