The Automation Service Engineering Associate II will support high-throughput clinical patient testing in a CLIA-certified laboratory, focusing on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and automation while contributing to process improvements. Responsibilities: - Provide first-line service response for automated processes and instrumentation across the Union City facility - Execute and/or coordinate routine preventive maintenance for laboratory instruments and automation systems - Perform equipment qualifications, including Installation (IQ), Operational (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) - Troubleshoot and triage equipment issues; coordinate vendor support and escalations as needed - Draft and revise documentation related to equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting - Maintain organized spare parts inventory and comprehensive, GDP-compliant service records - Identify, propose, and help implement process improvements; support testing and validation plans - Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline - 1+ year of hands-on experience servicing liquid handlers, or 2+ years in a technical service role (biotech, medical devices, clinical lab, or related) - Familiarity with coding basics and flow control logic used in automation workflows - Understanding of clinical laboratory assays and their applications - Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems with minimal direction - Ability to interpret data to prioritize work and guide troubleshooting - Excellent documentation skills and working knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) - Strong customer service orientation and effective verbal and written communication - Proven ability to work collaboratively and build strong cross-functional relationships - High attention to detail, accuracy, initiative, and self-motivation - Capacity and willingness to learn in a complex, fast-paced laboratory environment Preferred Qualifications: - Experience troubleshooting liquid handler scripts and/or programming for laboratory automation - Experience with general programming or scripting languages - Experience working in a CLIA-regulated clinical laboratory environment - Experience developing and delivering training programs and conducting knowledge transfer Required Skills: Servicing Liquid Handlers, Technical Service in Biotech, Medical Devices, Coding Basics, Flow Control Logic, Clinical Laboratory Assays, Documentation Practices (GDP), Equipment Qualification IQ, Equipment Qualification OQ, Equipment Qualification PQ, Troubleshooting Laboratory Automation, Customer Service Orientation, Effective Verbal Benefits: Multiple medical benefit options; employee premiums paid 100% of select plans, dependents covered up to 80%, Extremely generous Family Bonding Leave for new parents (16 weeks, paid at 100%), Supplemental fertility benefits coverage, Retirement savings program including a 4% Company match, Increase paid time off with increased tenure, Daily on-site lunches provided from top eateries, A variety of perks on campus (state of the art gym, restaurant), Free on-site EV charging (compatible with all EVs, including Tesla)
