Job Description
Summary: BetterHelp is on a mission to make mental health care more accessible to everyone. As an Associate Product Designer, you will support the creation of intuitive experiences for users, working closely with senior designers and cross-functional partners to design user flows and prototypes that drive product impact.
Responsibilities:
- Create user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes that address clear user and business needs
- Conduct lightweight user research and usability testing to explore pain points and validate concepts
- Identify UI/UX issues across product surfaces and propose pragmatic improvements
- Write clear design specs and collaborate with engineers to support smooth handoff and implementation
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Data, and Engineering to define problems and contribute to new feature delivery
- Leverage qualitative and quantitative data to iterate on shipped experiences and improve performance
- Participate in design critiques and team rituals, contributing to shared standards and best practices
- Support documentation and maintenance of design patterns, in partnership with senior designers and design system contributors
Required Qualifications:
- 1–2+ years of experience in product design or related roles
- Portfolio showcasing user flows, interface design, prototypes, and shipped work
- Familiarity with Figma and modern design tools
- Curiosity and eagerness to understand user behavior, mental models, and product constraints
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
- Comfort iterating quickly with feedback from users, PMs, engineers, and data partners
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on consumer-facing products, growth surfaces, or experimentation flows
- Exposure to or interest in mental health or healthcare products
- Basic experience with usability testing tools, user interviews, or data analysis
- Familiarity with design systems or component libraries
