Job Description
Summary: BETA Technologies is dedicated to revolutionizing electric aviation through innovation and sustainability. They are seeking an Engineering Technician to support the design, assembly, and testing of batteries, ensuring they meet the requirements for R&D and flight testing.
Responsibilities:
- Hands-on assembly or repair of batteries including redlining engineering drawings and creating build records
- Perform testing, validation, troubleshooting, and manufacturing processes in concert with design engineers
- Build test articles and maintain shop facilities
- Assist editing and implementing technical documentation
- Performing in-process quality inspection tasks, feeling comfortable identifying and raising concern about process deviations and being integral part of any troubleshooting efforts to solve them
- Review test and field data to make deterministic evaluations of hardware or software performance
- Develop your expertise concerning electro-mechanical assembly of fully electric propulsion systems
- Be trained to act as a flight test subject matter expert for prototype batteries
- Respect and foster a culture of safety, including working safely around high voltage
Required Qualifications:
- Two-year degree or certificate from an accredited two (2) year college, university, or technical school preferred
- Ability to Interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics of mechanical and electrical components
- Ability to operate hand and power tools
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to pivot and rapidly develop solutions to changing goals
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of how batteries work
- Passion for sustainability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience building Batteries
- Previous Computer-Aided Design (CAD) experience – Specifically 3DX/Catia
- Technical knowledge of electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 800 VDC
- Experience with Battery or High Voltage Electrical Assembly
- Experience with electrical testing
- Data acquisition experience
- Fabrication skills
- Data processing and analysis experience
