Job Description
Summary: Berkshire Residential Investments is a people-first real estate investment company who values the impact made as a company and the time spent together in high-performing teams. They are seeking a highly motivated Summer Investment Intern to support investment, asset management, and capital markets activities, providing hands-on exposure to the real estate investment lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct market and industry research to support potential new investment opportunities
- Evaluate incoming deals for fit, size, timing, strategy, location, and sponsor quality
- Provide first-pass analysis on team-identified deals
- Conduct deal and sponsor due diligence
- Participate in internal investment discussions, as applicable
- Prepare materials and investment memoranda for investment Committee approval, including underwriting, financial projections, sponsor review, market analysis, risk identification, and scenario sensitivites
- Assist in the closing process and ensure proper recordkeeping
- Maintain and organize all documents and files for specific deals and sponsors
- Update Deal Tracker spreadsheet to record and monitor deal review scope
- Assist in analyzing asset performance and budgets
- Support the team in maintaining and enhancing investment and asset management databases
- Compile and summarize insights from recent transactions and portfolio performance
- Assist with ad hoc analyses and special projects, including cross-functional collaboration with acquisitions, capital markets, and finance
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field
- Must be currently enrolled as a student during the internship period
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling preferred) and PowerPoint; familiarity with data tools is a plus
- Strong interest in real estate investing and private equity
- Ability to foster strong, collaborative relationships and communicate effectively with key stakeholders
- Intellectually curious, excellent analytical, critical thinking skills with strong business acumen and attention-to-detail
- Demonstrated integrity and commitment to the highest ethical standards and personal values with the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and comfortable in a fast-paced environment with the initiative to organize and prioritize work
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
