People Systems Specialist at Benevity in Calgary, Alberta
Job Description
Meet Benevity
Benevity is the way the world does good, providing companies (and their employees) with technology to take social action on the issues they care about. Through giving, volunteering, grantmaking, employee resource groups and micro-actions, we help most of the Fortune 100 brands build better cultures and use their power for good. We’re also one of the first B Corporations in Canada, meaning we’re as committed to purpose as we are to profits. We have people working all over the world, including Canada, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and more!
Benevity is seeking a People Systems Specialist reporting into the Director, People Systems. If you're driven by connecting the dots between process, technology, and data, this role is for you. You'll help run the systems — workflows, tools, and frameworks — that carry a Benevity-ite through their whole lifecycle, from recruitment through off-boarding, while also building the reporting, automation, and program work that lets the team operate at scale. This position provides a distinctive chance to engage with multiple departments, including Finance, IT, and Legal, fostering strong cross-functional collaboration.
What you’ll do:
Systems & Process Ownership: Own People workflows from initial design through day-to-day operation. When a process breaks or no longer meets the team’s needs, find the cause and improve it.
Technology & Tooling: Administer core People systems, including HRIS, ATS, equity management and survey platforms. Configure the tools and maintain their integrations. Build automations, including AI-enabled workflows, where they can reduce repetitive work.
Data & Analytics: Build recurring reports and dashboards that answer common business questions. Turn repeated ad hoc requests into reusable reporting, and use People data to identify patterns and support decisions.
Data Privacy & Security: Manage confidential employee data responsibly and build privacy, security and appropriate access controls into People systems and processes.
Program & Framework Support: Help design and roll out People programs such as talent management, compensation and job architecture. Turn new policies and frameworks into processes the team can run and employees can understand.
Employee Support & Operations: Handle questions and operational issues across the full employee lifecycle. Use what you learn from these interactions to identify processes that need clearer guidance, better tools or automation.
What you’ll bring:
You think in systems and pay attention to how tools and frameworks shape a workflow. You’re comfortable configuring and troubleshooting systems such as an HRIS, ATS or equity management platform, and you can handle routine changes independently.
Data work is a regular part of the role. You’re comfortable using spreadsheets and can build reports or dashboards that others can use.
You’re curious about AI and automation and can recognize when either could save time or improve a process.
When a request is unclear, you can work out what needs to happen and carry it through with limited direction.
This role moves between employee questions, system maintenance and longer-term improvements. You can keep that mix of work organized.
You communicate clearly and stay grounded when an employee needs help or a system is not working as expected.
Experience contributing to People programs such as talent management, compensation or job architecture is a plus.
