Summer Internship: Data Management Intern (Remote) at BeiGene · Remote

Summary: BeiGene is a company focused on fighting cancer, and they are seeking a motivated AI & Data Engineering Intern for their Summer Internship program. The intern will gain hands-on experience in data modeling, ETL, visualization, and reporting while assisting in the development of an AI-powered chatbot for querying data. Responsibilities: - Assist in designing and building an AI-powered chatbot interface for querying Redshift data - Implement Natural Language to SQL (NL2SQL) pipelines - Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) via APIs - Build prompt engineering workflows and evaluation pipelines - Understand data models, schemas, and ETL pipelines, create meta data within Amazon Redshift - Optimize SQL queries for performance - Support data transformations and create views/materialized views - Develop backend services (Python preferred) to connect AI services with Redshift - Implement APIs for chatbot interaction - Handle authentication and secure query execution - Work with AWS services such as: - AWS Lambda - Amazon S3 - Amazon API Gateway Required Qualifications: - Interns must be actively enrolled in a university undergrad degree program (entering junior year or above preferred; with a 3.0 GPA) or enrolled in master's or PhD Program - Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or related field - Understanding of relational databases, data warehousing, machine learning, Data modeling concepts (star schema, fact/dimension tables) - Strong knowledge in AWS, Redshift, SQL (query optimization, joins, aggregations, CTEs) - Basic experience with Python - Familiarity with REST APIs, AI/LLMs and prompt engineering - Interest in AI/LLMs and prompt engineering - Familiarity with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI) Preferred Qualifications: - Entering junior year or above preferred; with a 3.0 GPA Required Skills: AWS, SQL, Data modeling Important Skills: Python, Amazon Redshift, REST APIs Nice-to-Have Skills: AI/LLMs, Prompt engineering, Analytical Thinking Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, Wellness
