Job Description
- Reads and understands blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
- Selects proper size and type of building materials according to the project specifications and dimensions.
- Plans the installation to avoid obstructions.
- Prepares the layout using rule, framing square, and chalk line.
- Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
- Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using skill saws, table saws, band saws, etc.
- Assembles cut and shaped materials by fastening them together with nails or screws.
- Verifies the trueness of a structure using a plumb bob and carpenters level.
- Erects shoring and installs plywood decking.
- Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
- Unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
- Cleans tools and equipment.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Must be able to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.
- Must be able to climb vertical ladders and work above/below ground as necessary. Must have experience working at heights and a functional knowledge of proper use of fall protection equipment.
- Performs a variety of tasks involving safe dexterous use of hand tools.
- Safely operates power tools and equipment.
- Must be able to climb rebar walls and cages and work at heights.
- Typically requires 48 months of industrial construction experience.
