Job Description
Associate - Digital Consulting

AI Academy Manager
Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Reporting to the Team Lead for Tech Insights and adoption, and working closely with the Group Head of Innovation Investment & AI, this role is responsible for translating Beca’s AI strategy and capability roadmap into a cohesive, enterprise-wide learning strategy. As Manager of the AI Academy, you will establish and operate a trusted, structured mechanism for AI capability uplift — grounded in Responsible AI principles and aligned to Beca’s internal governance frameworks.
You will design, maintain, and evolve a sequenced, multi-tier AI curriculum spanning foundational literacy through to advanced practitioner and leadership pathways. Working closely with Business Group Directors, the AI Centre of Excellence, Digital Enablement Leaders, Learning & Development, and subject-matter experts, you will define AI capability expectations by career stage and embed AI learning into existing programmes so that it is relevant to roles, disciplines, and delivery models across the business.
Across the full programme lifecycle, you will commission, curate, and co-develop high-quality learning assets across multiple modalities — including practical, tool-based experiences. You will engage and manage relationships with external partners such as consultants, training providers, and vendors to complement internal capability where required, and ensure a consistent, high-quality learner experience across formats.
Beyond delivery, you will establish the mechanisms that show the Academy is working: tracking participation, capability uplift, and organisational impact, and using those insights to drive continuous improvement. You will report progress, risks, and opportunities to the AI Centre of Excellence, People & Culture, and senior leaders, while championing an AI-first mindset — enabling leaders to role-model AI use, fostering communities of practice, and helping embed safe, confident adoption that delivers sustained value across Beca.
Ko wai koe | About you
You are an experienced capability or learning leader who has shaped enterprise-wide programmes aligned to organisational priorities and delivered them at scale. You bring sufficient AI literacy to engage confidently with technical specialists, alongside the strategic perspective required to translate strategy into curricula, pathways, and adoption outcomes.
You have a strong track record designing and governing structured learning programmes — curricula, capability frameworks, learning pathways, and stakeholder co-design — within large, complex organisations. You understand how adults learn at work, how to balance foundational literacy with advanced practitioner development, and how to embed learning into the flow of real delivery.
You bring a sound understanding of AI or emerging-technology enablement, including responsible use, adoption, and behaviour change. You appreciate the importance of Responsible AI principles, risk management, and alignment to internal controls, and you ensure these are reflected in how learning content is designed, governed, and rolled out.
You are skilled at partnering with senior leaders, governance bodies, business group directors, and functional teams to co-create aligned, impactful learning. You are equally comfortable engaging external partners — universities, training providers, and vendors — to bring the right capability in at the right time, and you manage these relationships with clarity and commercial discipline.
You hold a tertiary qualification, ideally with postgraduate study, and bring excellent communication skills. Your background reflects experience in capability strategy, learning design, organisational change, or digital enablement, supported by strong stakeholder engagement and programme leadership skills. You are motivated by shaping how AI is responsibly embedded across an organisation — establishing fit-for-purpose learning pathways, supporting leaders and practitioners, and enabling safe, confident adoption that delivers sustained organisational value.
