Job Description
Summary: BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. The Research & Development Intern will provide support to the product development team in the design, testing, and manufacturing of medical devices for interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Support a defined design project related to an existing device throughout the duration of the internship
- Develop, prototype, and evaluate concept solutions to address an engineering design challenge
- Refine concepts through iteration and assist with integrating validated solutions into the product
- Conduct experiments, collect data, and document results with accuracy and attention to detail
- Prepare technical documentation including reports, charts, graphs, and data summaries
- Provide general administrative support such as coordinating meetings, managing project documentation, and communicating with team members
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, research, and operations
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to laboratory equipment, prototypes, or experimental processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities by identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and supporting implementation of corrective actions
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Available to work onsite, full time (40 hours per week) during summer break
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SolidWorks and Minitab
- Strong ability to think and design in 3D space
- Exceptional problem solving skills and ability to work in fast paced environment
