R&D Intern at BD in USA AZ - Tempe Headquarters

The R&D intern will support development efforts in biomedical applications, gaining hands-on experience in a laboratory setting while contributing to new product development projects. Responsibilities: - Assist with the coordination, execution and evaluation of testing activities including but not limited to materials preparation, equipment set up, data acquisition, sample handling, and post-test procedures - Maintain accurate records and documentation related to all testing activities - Collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure project timelines are met - Provide feedback and information to supervisor regarding progress made towards completion of assigned tasks - Participate in team meetings as appropriate; provide feedback when needed - Follow standard operating procedures and established protocols - Apply fundamental knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, and principles - Use computer software programs as required to complete assignments Required Qualifications: - Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program majoring in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field - Available to work full time (40 hours/week) - Based in Tempe AZ, Summer 2026 - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find quick solutions for unforeseen challenges in daily development activities in the lab - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Strong organizational and time management skills to handle a wide range of development tasks and goals - Strong oral and written communication skills to convey test results and data to the R&D team accurately - Willing to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and ethics to adhere to specific lab safety protocols Preferred Qualifications: - Previous experience working in a laboratory environment preferred - Familiarity with statistical analysis software such as MATLAB, MiniTab - Experience or knowledge in organic or polymer chemistry Required Skills: Biomedical Engineering, Laboratory Experience Important Skills: Statistical Analysis Software, Analytical Skills Nice-to-Have Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Safety Protocols, Time Management Skills
