Job Description
Summary: BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. The Summer internship program within Research and Development at BD provides students with an opportunity to work on engineering projects and gain experience in the medical device industry.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Electrical design (schematic and layout) based on characteristics of the existing Alaris system, consultation with other engineering staff, and system functional requirements
- Perform electrical systems implementation, following guidelines and taking into account system characteristics to produce optimal performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Conduct electrical systems evaluation using test equipment such as oscilloscope, multimeter, signal analyzer, etc
- Rapid prototyping and evaluation of concepts for feasibility and continuous iterations
- Assist the engineering staff with other request based on priorities and delivery expectations
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
- Pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering or relative technical degree such as Biomedical Engineering
- Familiar with Altium design
- Experience with rapid prototyping and PCB bring up
- Familiar with lab equipment such as Oscilloscopes and Multimeters
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Willing to work onsite 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiar with Embedded software
- Soldering and troubleshooting experience is a plus
- Experience in Technical Writing (Reports, test protocols)
- MS/PhD
- Prior internship/co-op experience
