This is an opportunity to lead a broad portfolio that shapes how we support our team members and leaders. Working closely with business leaders and colleagues across People & Culture, you’ll bring sound judgment to sensitive issues, develop your teams, and turn employee feedback and emerging workplace needs into meaningful improvements.

Who you are:

• You’re a thoughtful people leader who enjoys coaching teams, setting priorities, and improving how services are delivered.

• You bring care, fairness, and sound judgment to complex employee matters and difficult conversations.

• You’re comfortable working in a unionized environment and building productive relationships with union representatives.

• You can connect the work of employee relations, disability management, wellbeing, and health and safety to support a strong team member experience.

• You use data and feedback to spot risks, assess what’s working, and make improvements.

What you’ll do:

• Lead and develop the teams responsible for People Services, disability management, and health and safety.

• Serve as the primary People & Culture partner for an assigned client group, advising leaders on workforce needs, performance, organizational change, and employee matters.

• Lead complex workplace investigations and provide recommendations on resolution options, risks, and next steps.

• Support collective bargaining, manage grievances, and advise leaders on applying collective agreements.

• Oversee disability management, workplace accommodations, and return-to-work practices, including complex cases.

• Lead BCAA’s health and safety program, maintaining compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements and keeping policies and practices current.

• Own our wellbeing program and mental wellness strategy, delivering a quarterly calendar of initiatives, events, webinars, and resources.

• Keep core employee documents and people practices current as employment requirements evolve.

• Partner with the People Experience team to deliver people programs and use employee feedback and program data to improve outcomes.

What you bring:

• Post-secondary education in HR, business or a related field.

• At least 8-10 years of progressive People & Culture experience, including at least three years leading a team or function, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Strong HR business partnering experience, including advising leaders on complex employee relations matters and workplace investigations.

• Experience in a unionized environment, including grievance management and collective agreement interpretation.

• Experience overseeing or working closely with disability management, workplace accommodation, wellbeing, and health and safety programs.

• Strong working knowledge of BC employment and labour legislation, human rights obligations, and WorkSafeBC requirements.

• The ability to build trusted relationships, navigate difficult conversations, and provide clear, practical recommendations.

• Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to balance employee needs, business priorities, and organizational risk.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to use data and feedback to improve programs while managing competing priorities.

• Proficiency with HR systems, such as Workday, and Microsoft Office. Experience in the insurance or mobility industries is an asset.
