Job Description
Summary: Bay Cast Technologies, Inc. is a company located in Bay City, Michigan, specializing in machining large, precision components for various industries including aerospace and defense. They are seeking CNC Machinists at all experience levels to support their growth, offering a stable workload and strong programming support.
Responsibilities:
- Operate the following styles of milling machines
- Load materials and position workpieces correctly
- Set and verify work and tool offsets using the following traditional methods
- Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and indicators
- Monitor cutting conditions and report tool wear or machine issues
- Follow drawing, job travelers, and standard work instructions
- Maintain clean and safe work environment
- Perform moderate-complexity setups, including large-part setups
- Machine surface plates, frames, and commercial-grade components to +/- 0.005in tolerances
- Run established programs; perform minor G code edits for speeds, feeds, or offsets
- Perform and document in-process inspection
- Communicate process or program concerns to Level III machinists or programmers
- Edit and troubleshoot CNC programs independently
- Optimize and communicate machining strategies for efficiency, accuracy, and tool life
- Solve complex machining, fixturing, and quality issues
- Mentor and support Level I & II machinists
- Work closely with programmers and engineering as needed
Required Qualifications:
- CNC machining experience
- Level I: Entry-level or 1+ years CNC experience
- Level II: 2–5 years job shop CNC experience
- Level III: 5+ years advanced CNC machining experience
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and job instructions
- Working knowledge of G & M codes
- Ability to set up, operate, troubleshoot, and change tools
- Experience machining large-scale or large-format parts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong GD&T interpretation skills (Level II & III)
- Experience with Heidenhain, Siemens, and Fanuc Controllers
- Manual machining experience
