Job Description
As the Store Audit & Risk Advisor, you'll lead risk-based audits across Bapcor's store and branch network throughout Australia and New Zealand, reviewing key operational areas such as inventory management, cash handling, safety compliance and adherence to internal policies and procedures.
This role combines analytical rigour with practical problem-solving. You'll uncover not just non-compliance, but the root causes behind inefficiencies, control gaps and emerging business risks, working closely with operational leaders and corporate teams to implement meaningful, lasting improvements.
You'll also support investigations into suspected fraud or theft, partnering with Internal Audit, Risk, People & Culture and Legal teams to gather evidence, analyse data and deliver reports that can withstand scrutiny. Using data analytics and emerging AI-enabled insights, you'll help identify trends, anomalies and opportunities to strengthen controls and drive continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead risk-based audits across Bapcor's store and branch network throughout Australia and New Zealand.
- Assess operational, financial and compliance risks, identifying control weaknesses and recommending practical improvements.
- Identify emerging operational, financial and compliance risks and partner with management to improve control effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to reduce stock loss and strengthen loss prevention controls across the business.
- Use transactional and operational data to identify trends, anomalies and emerging risk themes, leveraging analytics and AI-enabled insights where appropriate.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.
- Support investigations into fraud, theft and irregular activity.
- Build effective working relationships with store managers, regional leaders, Finance, People & Culture, Loss Prevention and Corporate Support teams.
Qualifications
- A degree in Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline.
- CA or CPA qualified (or working towards) desirable, but not mandatory.
- 3+ years' experience in internal audit, risk, assurance or related advisory roles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational and transactional data to identify trends, anomalies and risk exposures.
- Experience using data analytics tools and an interest in leveraging AI-enabled insights to support decision-making.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability and commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and engage across all levels.
- Experience within retail, multi-site operations or an ASX-listed environment will be highly regarded.
- Willingness to travel regularly across Australia and New Zealand to engage directly with operations and support business improvement initiatives.
