Senior Accountant
Location: Nassau

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and support BankPro's growing operations in Nassau, The Bahamas. This is a hands-on role where you will play a central part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Bank's financial records, supporting compliance and control activities, and contributing to the delivery of timely, high-quality financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily accounting operations across assigned legal entities and business units
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, preparing journal entries and supporting schedules accurately and on time
- Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to maintain the integrity of financial records
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP and applicable regulatory standards
- Prepare draft management reports and financial commentary for review by the CFO
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and escalate significant issues to the CFO
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and accounting entries, coordinating with HR to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Assist the CFO in preparing regulatory reports in compliance with central bank requirements, Basel III/IV, and liquidity reporting (LCR, NSFR)
- Support the coordination of external and statutory audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor queries
- Process and reconcile intercompany transactions, nostro/vostro accounts, and FX revaluations
- Prepare supporting schedules related to capital ratios and balance sheet management
- Support the annual budgeting and rolling forecast cycles by preparing data inputs, templates, and variance analyses
- Identify and suggest opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy within your areas of responsibility
- Liaise with HR, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and other business functions on day-to-day finance matters
- Assist in onboarding and providing guidance to junior accounting staff on routine tasks and procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Professional accounting qualification in progress or recently completed: ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a bank or financial institution
- Working knowledge of IFRS, including bank-relevant standards (IFRS 9, IAS 39, IFRS 16)
- Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Fluency in English is required
Good to Have
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting concepts (e.g., central bank returns, Basel III/IV)
- Experience with ERP or core banking systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Avaloq, Mambu)
- Experience supporting external or internal audits
