Job Description
Perform Islamic money market operations and market surveillance, market intelligence and research and develop tactical strategy to ensure smooth functioning of the market
• Plan and implement Islamic money market operations to ensure smooth functioning of the market.
• Conduct discretionary monetary operations and market surveillance, market intelligence and research and focus on tactical strategy implementing operations.
• Undertake initiatives that will further promote the growth and develop the domestic Islamic financial market.
• Market surveillance on interbank trading activities and market practices.
• System development and enhancement to ensure operational efficiency and reliable data dissemination/publication.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily open market operations to manage liquidity in the domestic Islamic financial system using approved policy tools (direct acceptance, BNIBI, repo/revrepo, standing facilities).
- Monitor and supervise the domestic Islamic money market closely to ensure its efficient functioning in facilitating liquidity management by the Islamic banking institutions.
- Take leading role in improving operational efficiency, developing new Islamic monetary instruments, setting standards to enhance the breadth and depth of the financial market.
- Apply appropriate mix of instruments to manage aggregate monetary policy cost within budget and avoid deviation from tolerance level at any given time.
- Ensure full adherence to governance and operational processes that are in place for Islamic monetary operations.
- Perform market analysis and intelligence as well as be vigilant on the daily market development.
- Facilitate the agenda of the Islamic Financial Market Committee with the aim of fostering growth and advancing the Islamic financial market.
- Maintain database and compile information to provide in depth and timely analysis on the development of Islamic money market.
- Involve in cross-department and/or cross-functional team in the Bank with regards to the development of Islamic financial market.
- Establish connections, build rapport, and foster close relationships with the industry to actively gather market intelligence and feedback, ensuring a keen awareness of ongoing market developments.
- Prepare daily/periodic/adhoc reports to the Management on market activities as well as feasibility studies for future initiatives.
- Execute necessary legal documentation for borrowing and lending facility with institutional investors and financial institutions.
- Facilitate Government of Malaysia’s (GOM) Islamic issuances
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Qualifications: Degree or professional qualifications with an accounting, economics, banking, finance, Islamic finance or other related educational background. A CFA and PKMC holder would be an added advantage.
Experience: Treasury operations and knowledge of international economics and financial markets
