Bamboo Sunrise is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and trauma-informed Behavioral Support Specialists to join our QRTP team. Our youth come from diverse backgrounds and may present with complex behavioral, emotional, and mental health needs. Successful candidates must demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, sound judgment, strong communication, and a commitment to youth safety and quality care.

Required Background Clearances
FBI Criminal History Background Check
Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Check
Child Abuse and Neglect Screening (CANS) through the Department of Family Services
Department of Family Services (DFS) county background and reference check
Applicant-Paid Pre-Employment Costs
Background check and clearance costs are not reimbursed.
Nevada resident fingerprinting/background fees begin at $45.
Applicants relocating from out of state may have additional fees.
Required items may include TB testing, CPR certification, and internal agency testing before beginning work.
Background and Drug-Screening Notice
Applicants with arrests or criminal history within the previous seven years may be ineligible depending on the nature of the offense and applicable DFS clearance requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, matters involving DUI, child protective services, or domestic violence. Final eligibility is determined through the required background clearance process.
Bamboo Sunrise maintains a drug-free workplace and conducts random drug testing, including marijuana testing. No exceptions.
Position Overview
Behavioral Support Specialists provide direct supervision, skill-building interventions, crisis support, and behavioral coaching to youth residing in the QRTP program. Staff work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team focused on safety, stabilization, emotional regulation, independent living skills, social skills, and healthy coping strategies.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one skills teaching and direct support in home and community settings.
Implement interventions designed to improve basic living skills, social skills, interpersonal functioning, communication, and family functioning.
Work with youth and families using psychoeducational, behavior-modification, and insight-oriented approaches consistent with the youth’s plan of care.
Provide trauma-informed supervision, mentoring, structure, and positive behavioral support.
Support youth during emotional or behavioral crises and follow agency crisis-response procedures.
Assist with transportation, appointments, community integration, and recreational programming as assigned.
Complete accurate, timely, clear, and concise documentation of client interactions.
Use clinical terminology appropriately and maintain confidentiality in accordance with agency policy and applicable privacy requirements.
Attend monthly supervision and all required training.
Communicate professionally with supervisors and treatment-team members.
Follow all agency policies, child welfare requirements, safety procedures, and professional boundaries.
Provide after-hours crisis intervention when assigned.
Required Schedule and Availability
Evening and Weekend Availability Is Required
Weekday evening shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
Weekend day shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Weekend evening shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
Qualified staff who meet performance and service expectations may receive approximately 40+ hours per week.
Minimum Position Requirements
- Must be able and willing to work required evening and weekend shifts.
- Computer and software proficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively with diverse individuals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond appropriately during crises.
- General understanding of trauma-informed practices; agency training is provided.
- Flexibility, reliability, sound judgment, and professional conduct.
- Reliable vehicle and current automobile insurance in the applicant’s name or coverage as a designated driver.
- Valid Nevada Driver’s License.
- Must be 25 years of age or older.
- Ability to attend required training at the Bamboo Sunrise main office.
- Education and Professional Work Experience Requirements
We require you to have one of the following bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of experience working with children.

- Human Development and Family Studies
- Nursing
- Community Health Sciences or Health Ecology
- Early Childhood Education
- Education
- Criminal Justice
- Public Health
Preferred Qualifications
- Social services experience
- ABA or RBT background
- Experience in child welfare, residential treatment, foster care, behavioral health, or crisis intervention
- Familiarity with clinical terminology and HIPAA-related policies
- Experience completing professional service documentation
