Job Description
Summary: Balboa Nephrology is the largest kidney care practice in California, providing life-saving treatments to kidney patients. They are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to assist in various HR functions, offering hands-on experience in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct internal HR audits of I-9 forms, personnel files, EEO documentation, and other employee records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations
- Maintain and update employee records in HRIS systems
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes (new hire paperwork, orientations, exit documentation)
- Participate in onboarding presentations with HR Team
- Help prepare employee files to ensure compliance with California labor laws and internal policies
- Support document management and audit readiness
- Support employee recognition initiatives
- Assist HR coordinator with recruiting coordination and interview scheduling
- Support recruitment tracking
- Assist with job posting management and applicant tracking system updates
- Assist in planning employee engagement activities and internal company events
- Support HR initiatives such as training coordination and compliance tracking
- Contribute to special HR projects (policy updates, process improvements, surveys, etc.)
- Opportunity to support additional HR functions based on business needs and individual strengths
- Support culture and wellness initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Completed high school education
- Recent entry level HR experience, coursework or currently pursuing a higher degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Desire to work in a team-oriented workplace and collaborate with all HR team members and other internal staff
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in healthcare HR or medical group operations
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Understanding of general business practices
- HRIS experience is a plus
- HR Certification
