Job Description
Summary: Bain Capital is one of the world's leading private investment firms, managing approximately $185 billion in assets. They are seeking a Portfolio Analytics Analyst to support the Portfolio Management Analytics team by combining analytical and programming abilities with investment knowledge to drive portfolio business decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Gather, interpret, and analyze data to provide insights driving portfolio business decisions across the Liquid and Structured Credit Portfolio Management Team
- Use tools such as Python and SQL to deploy data to address the needs of the Portfolio Management Team
- Develop recurring and ad hoc portfolio analyses (e.g., exposures, performance, risk, liquidity, and positioning) to support investment decision-making
- Define requirements and partner with technology stakeholders as well as Investor Relations, IT, Operations and Finance to enhance data pipelines, reporting infrastructure, and analytics tools
- Automate portfolio analytics workflows and reporting processes to increase scalability, reduce manual effort, and strengthen controls
- Enhance, refactor and create analytical libraries leveraged across the Portfolio Management Analytics Team
- Support existing and integrate new data sources into the investment process
- Identify opportunities to improve investment processes and recommend enhancements
- Interact closely with Portfolio Managers, Industry Research and Trading Teams on analytics-focused projects
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, with preference to Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance or Mathematics
- Demonstrated programing expertise in data analytics and quantitative research techniques by using Python and SQL required
- 1-3 years of experience, preferably in the investments industry or data science capacity cleaning and preparing data, building models, or producing analytical work
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and perform well under pressure using strong problem-solving skills
- Proactive, collaborative, and a “roll-up-your-sleeves” mindset with strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with or general understanding of Fixed Income markets
