We are a high-energy group of innovators who believe that technical excellence and a supportive, vibrant culture go hand-in-hand.
This isn't a role where you'll be stuck in a silo. You will be embedded in a collaborative environment where creativity is encouraged, mentorship is a priority, and your contributions directly influence the future of space, air, and ground domain architectures. As part of the Strategic Capabilities Unit (SCU), you will be at the heart of BAE Systems' most discriminating technologies, helping us define the next generation of mission success.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution.
What You’ll Do:
- As a Systems Engineer, you will move beyond theory and into application, utilizing a custom-built tool-suite to characterize the performance of complex system architectures. Your work will provide the data-driven insights that set the requirements for the components and systems of tomorrow.
- Technical Development & Innovation:
- Build the Tools: You won't just use existing software; you will develop new tools and algorithms for mission systems modeling and data analysis, evolving our capabilities in real-time.
- Analyze Complex Systems: Collaborate with a team of analysts to simulate and characterize mission performance across diverse domains (Space, Air, and Ground).
- Solve Real-World Problems: Contribute to critical project milestones by providing creative solutions to multifaceted technical bottlenecks.
- Professional Growth & Visibility:
- Develop Executive Presence: Gain rare, early-career experience presenting your findings and proposed solutions to peers, senior management, and external customers.
- Business Acumen: Get a "behind-the-scenes" look at the defense industry by supporting new business initiatives, including proposal writing and cost/schedule estimation.
- Cross-Functional Synergy: Build a professional network across Strategic Business Units and the wider company, learning how high-impact technologies move from concept to delivery.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations will be required.
This role is based on-site five days per week to ensure you have the mentorship, face-to-face collaboration, and hands-on experience necessary for rapid professional growth.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
- Your work will take place across a variety of dynamic settings, including:
- Advanced Research Hubs: Professional office environments and high-tech laboratories.
- Integration Centers: Production floors and cleanrooms (where specialized PPE and safety gear are required).
