Job Description
Summary: B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. is a company focused on designing and manufacturing advanced electro-optical-mechanical systems. The Mechanical Design Engineer will design, build, and test various mechanical products while supporting the development and completion of strategic projects.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design of machined, injection molded, stamped and die cast parts and assemblies
- Support the design of high-volume assembly process such as ultrasonic welding and semi-automated tooling
- Enthusiastic and able to provide innovative and creative solutions
- Extensively use SolidWorks to layout and design electro-optical-mechanical assemblies and parts
- Conducts stress analysis to validate design approach
- Supports design verification testing for prototypes and products to ensure that the design, product and/or process meets specifications
- Assess and apply MIL-STD documents to product design and testing
- Assist in the documentation of assembly procedures, work instructions, manufacturing instructions, technical manuals and BOM’s
- Supports fabrication and assembly activities to ensure products and systems conform to specifications
- Assist with the preparation of estimates, cost reports, forecasts, schedules, account codes, budgets, and change orders
- Supports internal and external customers as needed
- Provides technical support to the business development group
- Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal and specifications to determine feasibility of design or application
- Supports new designs or concepts for review based on customer’s needs
- Develop specifications, system architecture, test methodologies, and test equipment to design, manufacture and assist in new product release
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills
- Execute assignments to company and customer standards
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university, with one to five years related experience. Experience may be counted in lieu of degree
- Experience with an emphasis on product design, including designing for manufacture and assembly
- Experience with Opto-electronic mechanical design
- Experience designing injection molded, stamped and die cast parts
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing methods such as ultrasonic welding and semi-automated tooling
- Experience with adherence to MIL-STD
- CAD modeling design skills and CAD drafting skills required. SolidWorks preferred
- Experienced in New Product Introduction methodology
- Experienced in Design for Manufacture and assembly methodology
- Experience with rapid prototyping processes
- Experience in design for NC machining
- Experience in launching products in a structured environment as a team member or leader
- Experience in product development efforts requiring system and component level design and troubleshooting
- Experience in organization and communication with design and development engineers to understand performance criteria and required testing
- Experience in technical and regulatory requirements specifications and processes associated with complex military devices
- Ability to write reports and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, groups of managers, clients and customers
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, common scientific, technical journals and technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Solidworks CAD. (expertise in Catia, ProE, Solid Edge or Unigraphics is acceptable)
- PDM such as SW Enterprise or Enovia
- FEA modeling software such as SW Simulation, Cosmos, or Ansys
