Graduate Actuarial Analyst at AXIS (AXIS Capital) in New York, NY

Summary: AXIS Capital is a trusted global provider of specialty lines insurance and reinsurance. The Graduate Actuarial Analyst will participate in a three-year rotational programme, gaining hands-on experience in actuarial work and developing key skills in pricing and reserving within the insurance industry. Responsibilities: - Data preparation, collection, and manipulation in spreadsheets - Assisting in insurance pricing and analysis - Work closely with underwriters to develop rating models and methods, communicating, and explaining the output from pricing tools - Conducting detailed reviews within classes of business to objectively assess profitability - Work with the reserving team on the quarterly reserving process - Analyse and investigate historical claims data Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Business, or any related field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (US) - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Thoroughness and attention to detail - Ability to document work appropriately - Ability to work well in a team - Self-starter and a quick learner with strong numeracy skills - Willing to question and investigate - Strong data analytical skills - Interest in the insurance industry Preferred Qualifications: - Experience within the insurance industry either academically or through prior internships - Familiarity with SQL, VBA, R, Microsoft Office is preferrable Required Skills: Actuarial Science, Data Analysis Important Skills: SQL, VBA, R Nice-to-Have Skills: Microsoft Office, Numeracy Skills, Interest in Insurance, Communication Skills, Teamwork, Attention to Detail, Self-starter Benefits: Medical plans for you and your family, Health and wellness programs, Retirement plans, Tuition reimbursement, Paid annual leave
