Digital Services Engineering Summer Internship at Avant in Chicago HQ

Summary: Avant is a FinTech leader that combines the mission-driven heart of a startup with the scale of a financial services provider. They are seeking an intern to join their Digital Servicing web team, where the intern will help build a world-class financial services experience by collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop user-friendly applications. Responsibilities: - Work with other engineers to write, test, and deploy application code that runs both on the server and the client - Learn and apply testing best practices to catch bugs early and improve long-term reliability - Participate in design discussions, peer code reviews, and team meetings across Web, iOS, and Android - Be a part of a strong culture of ownership, pragmatism, and testing Required Qualifications: - You are an undergraduate student majoring in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field - You have an interest in core web technologies (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) and enjoy building cross-platform experiences - You have used and want to become an expert in modern JavaScript frameworks, such as React, to build interactive user interfaces - You enjoy working with design teams to craft great user experiences through code - You are interested in learning new technologies and methods, including using AI tools for software development - You know the importance of automated testing and are eager to learn different front-end tooling for it Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with or a strong interest in learning any of the following is a plus: React Router, React Native, Cloudflare, Playwright, Modern CSS frameworks, WAI-ARIA, and Core Web Vitals Required Skills: JavaScript, React Important Skills: HTML, CSS Nice-to-Have Skills: Automated testing, Cross-platform development, AI tools, User experience design Benefits: Paid Time Off, Flexible Work Environment - (i.e. Mon/Tues/Thurs in-person), Lunch Allowance (Fooda) and In-Office Snacks, Summer Fridays, Fun In-Office and Virtual Social Events, And who doesn't love the swag
