Job Description
Summary: Avanath is a leading property management company focused on providing affordable housing for the workforce. They are seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Auditor to ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies by reviewing resident files and documentation, identifying non-compliance issues, and recommending corrective actions.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth reviews of hard files, including lease agreements, tenant records, financial documents, and maintenance records, to assess compliance with leasing agreements, safety regulations, and fair housing laws
- Examine property records and documentation to identify discrepancies or potential compliance issues
- Collaborate with property managers and relevant staff to address compliance concerns and guide the implementation of corrective actions
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to property management and leasing
- Generate detailed audit reports highlighting findings, recommendations, and areas requiring corrective action based on hard file reviews
- Provide support for the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures
- Stay informed about changes in property management and compliance regulations and ensure the organization remains fully compliant
- Offer guidance and training to property management teams regarding maintaining compliance through proper documentation and record-keeping
- Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, Fair Housing, Americans with Disabilities Act and all other laws pertaining to the housing industry
Required Qualifications:
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills, particularly with hard file examination
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Affordable Housing regulations highly desired
- Working knowledge of Yardi Voyager Property Management software highly desired
