Job Description
Summary: Atlantic Health is seeking a full-time Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern to support the Occupational Health & Safety Program. The intern will contribute to regulatory compliance efforts, sustainability initiatives, and Environment of Care activities while gaining hands-on exposure to occupational safety operations within a healthcare setting through project work and shadowing experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Support Occupational Safety Officers with workplace safety and environmental health initiatives
- Assist with regulatory compliance efforts across various sites and care centers
- Participate in Environment of Care support activities
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives, including projects focused on expanding sustainability practices to urgent care centers
- Assist in tracking and trending occupational injuries and illnesses using Excel and internal reporting systems
- Support the development of safety communications such as newsletters, educational materials, and risk mitigation resources
- Help gather and organize compliance documentation and project materials
- Assist with sustainability reporting and data analysis
- Shadow Occupational Safety Officers during inspections, assessments, and other field activities
- Support special EHS and Sustainability projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited public or private college/university
- Majoring in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field
- Must be in good academic standing
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, asylee, refugee, or lawful permanent resident
- Work 37.5 hours per week and commit to a minimum or 375 hours for the duration of the internship
- Must be committed to completing the duration of the internship from June 2026-August 2026
- Strong interest in occupational health, environmental compliance, and sustainability
- Interest in learning about hospital operations and Environment of Care standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- General computer literacy and analytical skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a structured environment
