Summary: Astronomer is a company that empowers data teams to bring mission-critical software, analytics, and AI to life through its DataOps platform powered by Apache Airflow. They are seeking an early-career Software Engineer to join their Data Plane Management team, focusing on managing Kubernetes infrastructure and full stack development to enhance their product web portal. Responsibilities: - Initially you’ll be focussed on full stack development (React + Golang) within our product, focussed on evolving our product web portal, but over time this will expand to working with the whole infrastructure fleet Required Qualifications: - 1+ year of experience with TypeScript and at least one backend programming language in a professional setting - Foundational understanding of distributed systems concepts, such as microservice architecture, TCP/IP, mTLS - A strong interest in infrastructure / platform engineering - A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative mindset - Familiarity with software development best practices, such as code reviews, testing, version control, and debugging - Experience leveraging AI coding assistants and LLMs (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Gemini) to accelerate development — from prototyping and automated testing to code refactoring and documentation Preferred Qualifications: - Contributions to open source projects - Experience with React - Experience with Go - Experience with Kubernetes for platform management - Familiarity with Apache Airflow or related workflow orchestrators Required Skills: TypeScript, Backend programming, Distributed systems concepts, Microservice architecture, TCP/IP, mTLS, Infrastructure engineering, Platform engineering, Software development best practices, Code reviews, Testing, Version control, Debugging, AI coding assistants, Large language models, React, Go, Kubernetes, Apache Airflow Benefits: Equity component, Comprehensive benefits package
