As a Systems Engineer at Assembly Software, you will join a collaborative Professional Services team working alongside platform engineers, project managers, and implementation specialists. Your work will span customer onboarding, custom solution development, and technical support, all while advancing the team's use of AI to work smarter and move faster. We power mission-critical case management solutions for more than 2,500 law firms and 40,000 users, and your contributions will directly shape their success.
What You'll Do
- Partner with customers throughout onboarding and beyond, translating their technical needs into reliable, tailored solutions built on Assembly Software's product suite.
- Serve as a trusted technical resource for customers, fielding questions and resolving issues with clarity and confidence during and after implementation.
- Write, maintain, and troubleshoot automation scripts and tools using Python, .NET, PowerShell, and similar languages.
- Diagnose complex issues by analyzing logs, stack traces, and system behavior, then driving those issues to resolution.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain customer environments within Azure and other cloud platforms.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and related tooling.
- Work within container orchestration platforms, including Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE).
- Leverage AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar to accelerate delivery and elevate code quality.
- Collaborate with development and engineering teams to strengthen deployment processes and system reliability.
- Contribute to on-call rotation and incident response as needed.
What You Bring
Required
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in Systems Engineering, Implementation Engineering, DevOps, or a closely related technical role.
- Demonstrated ability to write, troubleshoot, and maintain scripted solutions in Python, PowerShell, .NET, or a similar language.
- Solid SQL and relational database experience.
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs.
- Comfort working in Azure or another major cloud platform (AWS or GCP).
- Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar).
- Strong customer communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- A collaborative, problem-solving mindset with the ability to thrive in a fully remote environment.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, GCP Associate Cloud Engineer, or similar).
- Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Exposure to monitoring and observability platforms (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Familiarity with additional scripting languages such as Bash or Go.
- Experience working in a SaaS environment.
- Familiarity with the legal technology industry.
