Job Description
Summary: Arvinas is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing therapies to degrade disease-causing proteins. They are seeking a summer intern to support preclinical drug discovery for neurology indications, where the intern will learn basic biology techniques and assist in various scientific tasks under mentorship.
Responsibilities:
- Learn selected basic biology techniques from Arvinas staff with the goal of proficiency to the point of independently following detailed protocols to support in vitro pharmacology
- Document experimental work in an Electronic Laboratory Notebook & learn associated ELN protocols
- Attend project meetings and internal seminars at the direction of Mentor
- Read and present key papers from the relevant scientific literature at Summer Student Journal Club
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with a science discipline component
- Ability to work without the need for a current or future VISA sponsorship
- Ability to lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted
- Work comfortably in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious and hazardous materials
- Gown/degown PPE
- Use a computer
- Engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging
- Engage in problem solving, analysis and dialogue
- Collaborate with others
- Maintain general availability during standard business hours
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior lab-based biology background, including coursework with a lab component
- Prior independent research experience
