Job Description
The Non-Clinical Foundational Intern provides vital operational, administrative, and systems-level support to the agency while fulfilling pre-clinical or foundational field-hour requirements for behavioral health licensure and academic pathways. This role focuses on the structural and administrative backbone of mental health delivery—including client intake operations, intake gap applications, resource navigation, EHR data management, and facility support—without engaging in direct clinical diagnosis or therapy delivery.
Duties and responsibilities
Client Access & Intake Operations: Assist with client onboarding, managing incoming inquiries via phone and electronic communications, and facilitating intake paperwork and GAP application processes. Resource Coordination & Case Support: Research, map, and organize community-based social, health, and financial resources to support client care coordination. Records & Documentation Management: Upload, organize, scan, and maintain client records, mail, and administrative files within the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system while strictly maintaining HIPAA compliance. Facility & Space Administration: Coordinate physical and digital office operations, including room/space reservations, key distribution, office maintenance, and supply inventory tracking. Technology & IT Support: Help track, distribute, and manage hardware/software technology needs for agency staff and clinical teams. Team Integration: Participate regularly in department administrative meetings, operations check-ins, and non-clinical business meetings.
Qualifications:
Current enrollment in (or graduate of) an accredited Bachelor's or Master’s program in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Healthcare Administration, or a related behavioral science field requiring foundational non-clinical hours. Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong understanding of mental health service structures and community resources. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with strong time management abilities. Ability to handle sensitive, confidential client information with high ethical standards and selfdirection.
Stipend & Benefits: • Wellness Stipend: A fixed, small monthly wellness stipend is provided to support personal selfcare and professional well-being. • Educational Hours: Flexible scheduling designed to meet and verify required academic or foundational field-experience hours.
