Job Description
The Research Aide will support analysis of data collected from the SparkPix-RT2 X-ray detector during beamtimes at 16-ID and 1-BM. Responsibilities will include performing per-pixel gain corrections across multiple datasets, evaluating how detector gain and noise vary with baseline and signal integration settings, and investigating detector linearity under different operating conditions. The student will assist with organizing and processing experimental data, developing or applying analysis scripts, documenting methods and results, preparing figures and summaries, and communicating findings with the research team. Familiarity with Python, data analysis, and basic concepts in experimental physics or X-ray detection is preferred, along with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
Education and Experience Requirements
• The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States. • Applicants must be: o Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution. o Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or o Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution. • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins. • Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. • Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident at the time of application. • If accepting an offer, candidates may be required to complete pre-employment drug testing based on appointment length. All students remain subject to applicable drug testing policies.

The expected hiring range for this position is $19.80-$26.73.
