Job Description
Summary: Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience within the M&P Engineering team, supporting internal and external testing programs and ensuring materials and processes meet regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and certification teams to ensure materials and processes meet performance and regulatory requirements
- Support various process development and material qualification programs, including writing test plans and the generation of test databases
- Conduct mechanical testing on CFRP, adhesives, metals, and bonded joints
- Operate lab equipment (wet saws, grinders, microscopes, test frames)
- Perform bonding and composite panel preparation for small-scale testing
- Record results, document best practices, and write reports as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Going into the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year in college career
- Familiarity with composite manufacturing, adhesive bonding, and epoxy resin systems
- Familiarity with mechanical and analytical testing equipment and methodologies
- Strong curiosity of FAA qualification requirements under 14 CFR Part 23.2260
- Self motivated and driven to complete objectives
- Strong written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in CAD tools is desirable but not required
