Position Summary The Supervisor- Quarry and Aggregate oversees daily quarry operations, ensuring efficient extraction, crushing, and processing of raw materials. He/she manages equipment, personnel, and resources effectively, coordinating with cross functional teams, monitoring production targets, and implementing best practices to achieve high productivity and minimize costs.
Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s 1. Operational Oversight
1.1. Supervise daily quarry and aggregate production activities, including drilling, blasting, crushing, and screening operations.
1.2. Ensure efficient use of equipment, materials, and manpower to meet production targets.
1.3. Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with the maintenance team for timely repairs and servicing.
2. Compliance
2.1. Enforce strict adherence to company health, safety, and environmental policies.
2.2. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to mitigate hazards.
2.3. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to mining and quarry operations.
3. Production Management
3.1. Develop and implement production schedules to meet operational goals.
3.2. Monitor production output, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to optimize productivity.
3.3. Maintain accurate records of production data, equipment usage, and material inventory.
4. Team Leadership
4.1. Lead, train, and motivate quarry personnel to perform effectively and safely.
4.2. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve team efficiency.
4.3. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
5. Resource and Cost Management
5.1. Manage resource allocation, including materials, equipment, and labor, to ensure cost-effective operations.
5.2. Control operational costs while maintaining high production standards.
5.3. Prepare and submit operational reports, including production statistics and cost analysis.
6. Quality Control
6.1. Ensure the quality of aggregates meets specified standards and client requirements.
6.2. Implement quality control procedures to monitor and improve material output.
6.3. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any issues promptly.
7. Coordination and Communication
7.1. Liaise with other departments such as maintenance, logistics, and engineering to ensure smooth operations.
7.2. Communicate effectively with management on operational performance, challenges, and improvement plans.
7.3. Participate in regular meetings to align quarry activities with company goals.
Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mining engineering, geology, civil engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certification in quarry operations, aggregate production, or safety management.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in quarry and aggregate operations within mining, construction, or related
industries.
• At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role overseeing quarry production and aggregate processing.
• Proven experience in managing heavy equipment operations, drilling and blasting activities, and material handling.

1.2. Monitor and control environmental impacts—including erosion, emissions, noise, and habitat
disturbance—and implement mitigation measures.

address any environmental issues or non-compliances.
About the Team
ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) is operating inside Liberia since 2006, where we are employing approximately 1600 employees and about 1000 contractors mainly in the area of security as well as in transactional manual work like Bush cutting keeping the railway and our concession area free of natural overgrowth, as well as putting tarpaulins on the railcars etc.
In Liberia we are running operations, spread over three locations, our harbour, and our Main offices in Buchanan, and the Nimba region the mines, existing of multiple mining locations at Tokadeh, Gangar and Yuelliton and a Crushing plant and rail loading facility, serviced by our own accommodation settlement in Yekepa.
These locations are all connected with a 260 km Railroad, operated, and managed by AML, as per the MDA between ArcelorMittal and the government of Liberia.
Currently 5 mtpa iron ore (DSO -Direct Shipping Ore) are produced, which will be phased out in the next few years and replaced with Iron Ore Concentrate. The Phase 2 project aims to increase export of Iron Ore to 15 mtpa (concentrate). This was restarted end 2020 after it was put on hold in 2014 due to Ebola outbreak in. Significant civil construction work was already well advanced when the project was put on hold. Phase 2 of the project consist of an iron ore concentrator at the mine, rehabilitation and upgrade of Rail line, and a new iron ore bulk handling terminal in the port.
