Major Duties
The Planning Specialist is responsible for defining and monitoring all the processes of Planning and Maintenance Engineering for the Concentrator plant, developing short- and long-term solutions to sustain the design of total capacity of the site with all critical KPIs, and for planning, scheduling, controlling the execution maintenance, as well, guaranteeing in perfect conditions resources, tools, and preparation, inspection, and predictive maintenance for the Concentrator area. He/she will lead the transformation of best practices related to maintainability, availability, reliability, and lean production, taking full responsibility for mentoring the staff and complies with the company’s SHEQ Systems.
Process: Engineering and Planning processes including Reliability, Asset Management, Planning and Controlling of Maintenance.
- Support Maintenance leaders/areas to achieve mainly planned availability and productivity of the Concentrator plant.
- Carry out processing, training, and projects to agreed quality, quantity, and schedule.
- Work in close cooperation with the Plant Operational teams to ensure mainly effective utilization, performance, and productivity of Concentrator plant.
- Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures, and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
- Maintain and relationships with stakeholders in AML’s mining and rail planned activities, consistent with ArcelorMittal’s Community Relations Policies.
- Ensure the necessary conditions for the team to achieve the productivity goals established through the maintenance best practices processes, such as: inspection and predictive planning, maintenance systems analysis, planning workforce indicator, scheduling workforce indicator, tools calibration adherence, systematic maintenance orders adherence.
- Anticipate and develop the preparation for the w+1 (actual and following week) maintenance activities, as well the w+4 (4 more weeks ahead)
- Develop and consolidate all weekly and monthly Maintenance reports, as well periodic shutdowns, and big breakdowns reports.
- Develop, plan and control the 52 weeks plan for whole Maintenance, with proper management tools.
- Raise potential improvements of maintenance plans.
- Be responsible for material analysis and negotiate with Supply-chain optimal levels of MRO, non-zero stock of critical items and long lead-time materials.
- Ensure the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the function.
- Develop objectives for sharing common infrastructure and support services across ArcelorMittal and cascade this throughout function.
- Analyze, elaborate, and guarantee the development of improvement projects and technical analyses that guarantee the maintenance of production capacity for the different production scenarios.
- Analyze, elaborate, and guarantee the implementation of future technical solutions through sustaining investments in the production process, aligned with the demands of the area of operation and maintenance.
- Ensure the assessment of operational assets, the physical and structural integrity of the equipment and its nominal production capacity.
- Ensure the necessary conditions for the planning area to achieve the productivity goals established through the engineering processes, such as: loss profile, failure analysis, initial control, predictive techniques, structural integrity, and development of new technologies.
- Ensure the development of technical solutions to mitigate or eliminate systemic failures.
- Carry out the management and correct document flow of technical documentation inside Doc Control of AML.
- Support technically the process of expediting the materials and components management.
- Coordinate preparation and review of maintenance plans.
- Interface and technically interact with other corporate areas of Planning and Execution including maintenance control, regional purchasing, inventory management, consolidated purchasing, tax cells and human resources, as well as third-parties service providers.
- Approve new suppliers ensuring compliance with the technical assumptions applicable to the tests and provide technical basis of AML.
- Support the identification of opportunity gains through the development of materials engineering, aiming at cost reduction and productivity increase.
- Develop and manage the budget portfolio of its area of operation.
- Ensure the analysis of operational constraints and bottlenecks, develop, and implement solutions.
- Guide, develop and technically train the team, seeking to identify potential successors in their area of expertise.
- Technically guide the areas of PCM, Inspection, Execution, Lubrication, Automation and Predictive.
- Ensure Initial Control for all New Assets.
- Ensure the correct technical specification of services and/or components for maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance engineering and production system procedures.
- Ensure team unity through monitoring and managing the organizational climate.
- Disseminate corporate information through the team, such as: movement of people through the areas, mergers and acquisitions, new policies of AML among others.

- Proven experience in yard machines (reclaimers and stackers) or Concentrator mining equipment for a minimum of 3 years
